Materials:
- Various small containers of different sizes
- A medium pail
Procedures:

- Divide the class into groups of five students and have them work in their cooperative groups.
- Appoint one student in the group to be the recorder.
- Give each group a set of containers of different sizes and a medium pail.
- Have the students fill the medium pail with water.
- Have the students estimate the number of cups needed to contain all the water in the medium pail.
- Have the students fill the cup to check their estimate.
- Repeat for the other containers.
- Have the students record their findings in the following table:
